Solus Straw Bale House
Findhorn Moray 2002
This project, the first straw bale house to be built in Scotland, was initiated in 1996 by an enthusiastic client group from the Findhorn Foundation. Though the project gestated for some years after receipt of Planning Permission and Building Warrant it was later realised by a new client. Efforts to break new ground in environmentally sound and energy efficient construction were embraced by all involved. This ambition extends to the materials and building fittings, most of which were sourced locally and reclaimed where possible.
